What's my current diet like?
So, to make a long story short, I have candidiasis… sounds scary, but it is basically an overgrowth of candida fungus in your body. This happened to me after taking a pretty strong antibiotic about 2 months ago, and it just threw my entire body off because it killed both the bad AND the good bacteria in my body.
Instead of taking medication, I am determined to fight this by following the “Candida Diet.” This diet was created to help kill off the overgrowth of candida within your body, and to help you get back to feeling normal again. So far, I have been following it for about a week, and I am slowly noticing positive change. From what I have gathered, getting rid of candida can take quite a while, so the key here is to be CONSISTENT and PATIENT!
With the Candida Diet, there are many foods you must avoid, including:
Sugars - sugar, honey, syrup, chocolate, artificial sweeteners
Alcohol – wine, beer, liquor
Grains/gluten – wheat, rye, oats, barley, white bread, pasta, spelt, corn, rice
Fruit – fresh fruit, dried fruit, canned fruit, fruit juice
Starchy vegetables – potatoes, carrots, sweet potatoes, yams, beets, peas
Meats – all pork, cure meats, processed meats, smoked meats
Fish – all fish except wild salmon
Dairy – cheese, milk, cream, whey products
Additives – citric acid, anything you cant pronounce
Beverages – coffee, black/green tea, diet/soda, energy drinks, fruit juices
Nuts – cashews, peanuts, pistachios
Beans – beans, legumes, chickpeas, tofu, soy cheese, soy milk, all soy
Mushrooms/molds
Condiments – ketchup, mayo, mustard, relish, soy sauce
Vinegars – all except ACV
Fats and oils – peanut oil, corn, canola, and soy oil
Now, these are the foods that you CAN eat, and this is basically what my diet looks like right now:
Vegetables – asparagus, avocado, broccoli, Brussels, cabbage, cucumber, eggplant, garlic, kale, onions, rutabaga, spinach, tomatoes, zucchini
Live yogurt – probiotic yogurt, kefir
Meat and eggs – beef, chicken, lamb, turkey, eggs
Fish – herring, wild salmon
Nuts and seeds – almonds, coconut meat, flax seed, hazelnuts, pecans, sunflower seeds, walnuts
Non-gluten grains – buckwheat, oat bran, quinoa
Herbs/spices – basil, pepper, cinnamon, garlic, oregano, rosemary, thyme, turmeric
Oils – coconut oil, olive, sesame, flax, red palm oil
Seasonings – pepper, sea salt, lemon juice, coconut aminos, apple cider vinegar
Beverages – chicory root coffee, cinnamon or peppermint tea, ginger tea
Sweeteners – stevia, xylitol
So that is my diet! I would be lying if I said this was easy... it is NOT easy! But I am determined to get my body more balanced and fight off this Candida. I am also taking Full Mega Fish Oil from 1st Phorm, my M-Factor Goddess multivitamin from 1st Phorm, and then “Yeast Cleanse” from Solaray. Let me know if you try this out or have any input for fighting off candida!
